Uber is cutting about 10% of its global workforce as it simplifies management layers, smaller teams and its office footprint.

The reduction applies to employees rather than independent drivers and couriers; local WARN notices, including 93 roles in Seattle and 363 in Illinois, are included in the global program rather than counted separately. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company had accumulated too many organizational layers and small teams as it grew.
