Accessibility
Everyone should be able to find out who is cutting jobs. Here is what we do to make that true, and how to tell us when we fall short.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the site.
What we do
- Pages are plain, semantic HTML that works without JavaScript, with a “skip to content” link and visible keyboard focus.
- Text and controls meet AA color-contrast ratios in both light and dark mode, and the site follows your system’s dark-mode setting.
- Animation is minimal and switches off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Every chart has a text table version for screen readers.
- Links that open a new tab say so.
How we test
Every change is checked with automated accessibility audits (Lighthouse/axe) on phone, tablet and desktop layouts, and with keyboard-only navigation. Automated tools catch only some problems, which is why we want to hear from you.
Known issues
- Some original source documents we link to, especially scanned PDFs published by state agencies, are not accessible. We can’t change them, but we summarize what they say in our stories. If you need help reading one, contact us.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on this site doesn’t work for you, tell us through our contact page or at hello@todayslayoffs.com: the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you use. We will reply and tell you what we can fix.
