Reading the numbers
count.qualifier- One of
exact,about,up_to,at_least,range,percentageorundisclosed. It is taken from the source’s wording, andcount.sourcePhraseholds the exact words. jobs_for_totals- A conservative number for adding up: ranges use the low end; percentage-only and undisclosed records are 0. Don’t add the raw counts.
datesannouncedis when the layoff became public;warnNoticeis the date on a WARN notice, if any;separationsare when jobs end, if known.
Using the API
The API is a set of static JSON files, so there are no keys and no rate limits beyond fair use. Files are regenerated whenever we publish. Fields are only ever added, never renamed, within v1.
